چکیده

Background: Blood gas analysis is critical in managing children intensive care unit primarily respiratory disorders. This study aimed to ascertain agreement between the arterial and peripheral venous measurement of pH, pCO2, pO2 bicarbonate levels along with SpO2 acute asthma. Methods: Hospital based cross sectional analytical was conducted at Pushpagiri Institute Medical Sciences 50 within age group 5-15 years who presented symptoms suggestive asthma a modified PSI>6 after informed consent from parents assent child. monitoring ABG simultaneously VBG were done immediately admission. Statistical find out any correlation using Pearson coefficient Bland Altman plots drawn assess agreement. Results: 5 15 included study. Arterial pH found be correlated significantly, r=0.438. There good pCO2 r= 0.610, values r=0.608. poor PO2 (r=0.030). The bias plot for showed moderate 95% limits being acceptably narrow range. mean 0.0242 (SD=0.04912, = -0.0721 0.12045); -4.04400 (SD=5.53616, -14.8949 6.8069), -0.0940 (SD=2.09, -4.1998 4.0119).Conclusions: Even though there parameters like bicarbonate, cannot replaced asthma. Pulse oximetry also has limitations severe as compared value.

Arterial Blood Gas Analysis in Acute and Chronic Bronchial Asthma

Arterial blood gas sampling is a very important investigation in the assessment of a patient’s acidbase status and oxygenation in acute and chronic bronchial asthma. It is the gold standard test which measures amounts of oxygen and carbon dioxide as well as the pH of the blood while it also evaluates the effective delivery of oxygen to the blood by the lungs and effective elimination of the car...

Comparison of blood gas values in arterial and venous blood.

OBJECTIVE To compare pH and PCO2 values of simultaneously obtained arterial, arterialized capillary, and venous blood samples and also to compare oxygen saturation (ASaO2) measured in arterial blood and oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry (PSaO2). METHODS Prospective study was done in the children admitted in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Christian Medical College Hospital Vellore, req...

Agreement between central venous and arterial blood gas measurements in the intensive care unit.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Venous blood gas (VBG) analysis is a safer procedure than arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and may be an alternative for determining acid-base status. The objective of this study was to examine the agreement between ABG and central VBG samples for all commonly used parameters in a medical intensive care unit (ICU) population. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASURE...
